Job Description:
Position Summary:The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller
and is responsible for providing key accounting and analytical
support related to Payables to the Controller, Senior
Accountant/Analyst, and other stakeholders, as
necessary.Qualifications required:Bachelor's degree in
Accounting.Two plus years of accounting and/or auditing
experience.Advanced skills using Excel and other Microsoft
products.Advanced skills analyzing and reconciling all balance
sheet accounts.Experience using accounting software.Strong written
and verbal communication skills.Self-starter who can work
independently on multiple tasks and projects.Enthusiasm for the
strategy, culture, projects and people of
Garrett-EvangelicalQualifications preferred:Master's degree or
pursuing MS in accounting.Experience working in higher education,
non-profit in accounting or higher education auditing.Experience
working in public accounting or audit roles.Working knowledge of
technology management.Jenzabar experience.CPA or pursuing CPA is
desirable.Essential functions and responsibilities:Accounts
PayableReview approved purchase orders and for new invoices for
payment.Validate invoice amounts against related documentation in
the Purchase Order, including amounts and expense
classificationPrepare student, and all other operational payments
by creating appropriate batches and advancing them for approval and
posting.Generate Checks/efiles for invoice paymentsManage Accounts
Payable Module to ensure Vendor information is up to date and
payments are current.Manages the annual 1099's ensuring
accuracy.Prepaid ExpensesAs invoices are recorded, review for
periods coveredUpdate Amortization Schedule on the Prepaid Account
Reconciliation and record amortization in the G/LCharge
CardsMonitor receipt of Charge Card Receipts and Account
AssignmentsRecord account assignments in the Journal Entry
Preparation Workbook from submissions by Cardholders and submit for
posting.Timely and accurate reconciliation and completion
monthly/yearly accounting close and related journal entries for
assigned Balance Sheet and ExpensesAccounts Payable Subledger to
G/LAccrued Expenses, including Chase Credit Card AccountAnnuities
PayableObligation for Retiree Health BenefitsComplete assigned
annual audit PBC'sAssists with compiling ad-hoc data for the annual
audit.UtilitiesProcess monthly utilities including water, gas and
electric.Distributions by department Posting (allocations provided
by originating departments).PostageOffice SuppliesPrintingPayroll
and BenefitsPrepare accurate monthly and semi-monthly payroll for
Controller ApprovalDownload applicable reports to the Payroll Teams
folder, including payroll registers and deduction reportsPay
Monthly Benefit ProvidersSuccess factors/job
