The Department of Classics at Northwestern University invites applications for a teaching-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction in Classics starting September 1, 2023. This is a non-tenure track, full-time, benefits eligible position. The successful candidate will teach a combination of language courses in both Latin and ancient Greek, as well as undergraduate courses in translation. Superior language skills, teaching experience, and evidence of pedagogical innovation are indispensable for the position. A record of community outreach, involvement in a study abroad program, and expertise in ancient popular culture, everyday life, or race in antiquity are highly desirable. This position carries a teaching load of six quarter-long courses. Our program values engagement in public conversation and interdisciplinary collaboration and is committed to promoting a culturally diverse intellectual community.
