Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to support elementary students in an onsite capacity within a public school setting in Crete, Nebraska. This position requires strong sign language interpretation skills to facilitate effective communication and access to education for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Location: Crete, NE Elementary School Position Details: Contract duration through the current school year, ending on May 22, 2026 Onsite work required from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM; afternoon-only shifts (11:00 AM to 3:15 PM) may also be considered Elementary caseload focusing on supporting students in a classroom environment Will accept candidates with a provisional license if their Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score is below 4.0 Key Responsibilities: Provide clear and effective sign language interpretation to elementary students during instructional periods Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff to ensure equitable access to the curriculum Collaborate with educators and support personnel to address student needs and adapt interpretation strategies accordingly Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions Participate in team meetings and professional development as required Desired Qualifications: Proficient in American Sign Language interpretation in educational settings Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred Ability to work independently and as part of an educational team Valid provisional or full sign language interpreter license or certification Strong communication and interpersonal skills This contract role offers meaningful engagement in a supportive learning environment where your skills will directly impact student success.
