Job Description:

Epic Special Education Staffing is looking for a compassionate and skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our dedicated team serving in educational environments. This role is crucial for providing communication access for deaf or hard-of-hearing students and enabling them to achieve success alongside their peers in a supportive school setting. The interpreter will work closely with teachers, staff, and students, interpreting both spoken and signed communications within educational and social contexts. Our goal is to create an inclusive atmosphere that recognizes each student's potential and promotes an equitable learning experience. Facilitate communication through accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL). Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure that educational content is accessible to all students. Participate in IEP meetings to discuss and plan student accommodations and progress. Adapt interpretation style according to the educational context and student preferences. Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality of all student information. Engage in professional development to stay current with best practices in educational interpreting. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work effectively in team settings Adaptability to various educational settings Knowledge of special education laws and practices Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401k Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC) preferred. State certification as required for educational interpreters.
