Associate Director, Buffett Strategic InitiativesNorthwestern University. 4.1 - Evanston, IL 60208 (Downtown area). The Associate Director for Buffett Strategic Initiatives works in collaboration with Northwestern University's Associate Provost for Global Affairs to develop and implement strategic global initiatives for Northwestern University. Convenes campus leaders and experts, coordinating the development, execution and evaluation of Northwestern Global Strategic Plan initiatives. The Associate Director also develops and implements metrics for the evaluation of research, collaborative learning and other initiatives supported by the Northwestern Roberta Buffett Institute for Global Affairs. They provide "flex" leadership within Northwestern Buffett, working across discrete teams to ensure an efficient flow of information and incubate new initiatives in coordination with the Northwestern Buffett Chief of Staff, Associate Director of Research, Director of Global Collaboration and Director of Global Learning, and serving as a member of the Northwestern Buffett senior leadership team. The Associate Director is also responsible for cultivating strong working relationships between Northwestern Buffett and schools or units across campus, collaborating with university leaders at the Associate Dean and Assistant and Associate Vice President levels with minimal direction and oversight, representing the Associate Provost for Global Affairs and Northwestern Buffett on campus committees when appropriate.. Please Note:. Occasional evening and weekend events and commitments. Occasional domestic and international travel. Specific Responsibilities:. Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of key Northwestern global initiatives. Develops key performance metrics and to track progress in the implementation of the Northwestern Global Strategic Plan in coordination with leaders across campus.. Collaborates with Northwestern's Office of Organizational Strategy and Change and leaders across campus to develop detailed project plans, outlining goals, measures of success and budgets for the Northwestern Global Strategic Plan initiatives, e.g. the Northwestern Language Center.. Further establishes and expands the Fulbright Program at Northwestern: establishes systems and processes for making the program accessible to scholars across the University, collaborates with Northwestern Buffett's Director of Communications and the Northwestern Office of Global Marketing and Communications to effectively promote Fulbright opportunities, supports Northwestern scholars through the Fulbright application process, develops a strong community of Northwestern Fulbright scholars, and identifies opportunities for Fulbright scholars to contribute to key Northwestern global initiatives.. Represents Northwestern Buffett and the Associate Provost on campus committees, when appropriate.. Incubates new Northwestern Buffett Institute for Global Affairs strategic initiatives. Works in close collaboration with Northwestern Buffett's Executive Director and senior leadership team to develop Northwestern Buffett programming and initiatives that support Northwestern Global Strategic Plan goals and priorities.. Develops processes and frameworks for evaluating Northwestern Buffett supported research and collaboration initiatives, including Northwestern Buffett Global Working Group, Global Connections Seed Grant and Global Campus Collaborative program activities.. Performs other duties as assigned.. Minimum Qualifications:. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher. At least 5 years' experience in program implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Demonstrated leadership in the design and oversight of effective international programs. Experience working in an academic research environment, international development, or similar. Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities). Extensive experience with program development in a university setting and global context. Excellent analytical, research and writing skills. A high degree of initiative, and aptitude for both independent and collaborative work. Excellent prioritization and time management skills. Excellent presentation and communication skills and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications:. Master's Degree and 6+ years working in international education and/or within a university setting.
