This position is located in Evanston, Illinois. The Individual Giving Director plays an integral role in the successful planning and execution of ongoing resource development efforts of YWCA Evanston/North Shore with an emphasis on increasing annual fund contributions from individuals, increasing revenue from a portfolio of major gift donors, and strategically leveraging special events and volunteer engagement to grow philanthropic support. The position will work collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to develop and implement annual fundraising plans that support growth in overall private giving. The position will also be expected to collaborate effectively with the CEO, Development team, board members, and all departments. The position is responsible for developing and implementing program strategies that advance department goals, directs daily activities, protocols, and procedures, and solicits and offers input on agency policies, and advises on department protocols and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Fundraising and Planning (60%)

  • Responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to increase philanthropic support from individuals and family foundations.
  • Responsible for growing annual fund revenue by cultivating and deepening relationships with mid-level donors and a portfolio of major donors.
  • Directs fundraising communications and partners with the marketing team to develop strategic donor communications including direct mail, email, social media, webpages, and other fundraising collateral.
  • Supervises the Special Events and Volunteer Manager, including overseeing strategy, planning, and execution of special events, and strategic recruitment, engagement, and stewardship of volunteers.
  • Works to deepen engagement with target communities and agency stakeholders by leveraging special events and volunteer engagement to cultivate and steward current and potential donors.
  • Contributes to the growth of planned giving, including developing and implementing strategies and protocols to attract new bequests.
  • Develops and monitors revenue projections for individual contributions in Development budget.
  • Assists CDO in supporting board members and community volunteers in fundraising efforts. Works collaboratively with members of the development team, program staff and volunteers to foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization. Administration and Reporting (25%)
    • Works with development coordinator to ensure accurate and timely gift entry, gift acknowledgment, and reconciliation of gifts, including documentation and follow-up of planned gifts, campaign gifts, and other verbal and written gift commitments.
    • Uses technology and donor data to track and report on key fundraising metrics. Monitors and uses data to inform progress towards achieving annual fundraising goals, adapting fundraising strategies and appeals as needed. Supervision (5%)
      • Develops, motivates, and maintains a highly functioning team that demonstrates positive morale and adheres to high standards of performance.
      • Hires and onboards staff in accordance with agency protocols.
      • Oversees the workflow and productivity of staff including, but not limited to, maintaining accurate work schedules, reviewing and approving timesheets, providing regular supervision to review work performance, goals, expectations, and accomplishments.
      • Acts as primary liaison between leadership and direct reports and ensures timely, thorough, and effective organizational communication so staff feels informed and aware of organizational policies, practices, and procedures, and growth
      • Effectively advocates for staff by regularly soliciting staff input and representing staff needs and interest to departmental leadership.
      • Ensures all staff understand and adhere to all policies in the Employee Handbook. ADDITIONAL DUTIES (10%)
        • Attends all fundraising events and donor activities, providing support as needed.
        • Attends department and agency meetings and contributes to the overall strategic growth of the organization.
        • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

          Requirements:
          MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: College-level coursework in business, marketing, communications, or related fields. Experience and/or Training:
          • Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience, with proven track record of securing annual gifts from individuals.
          • Excellent verbal communication skills and proven writing skills, including experience writing direct mail and email fundraising appeals.
          • Experience managing fundraising campaigns and analyzing fundraising data. Licenses/Certificates:
            • Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
            • Successful completion of the Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training Certificate within 6 months of hire.
            • YWCA requires that all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and submit proof of vaccination to Human Resources unless a request for a medical or religious accommodation is granted. Technology/Equipment
              • Intermediate proficiency with donor databases, fundraising software, and MS Office suite.
              • Reliable access to a personal automobile to conduct essential functions. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, communications, or nonprofit management. Experience and/or Training:
                • 5+ years of experience in annual giving and frontline fundraising, including demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding mid-level and major gift donors.
                • Experience building and managing a portfolio of mid-level and major gift donors.
                • 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
                • Experience using technology to identify, cultivate and steward donors and prospects.
                • Demonstrated success in growing and maintaining relationships with board members and community partners to advance fundraising goals.
                • Experience identifying, cultivating, and stewarding donors and volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Technology/Equipment: Intermediate proficiency using Donor Perfect Online, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, or equivalent software. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS Intermittent (less than 15%), Occasional (15-45%), Frequent (50-75%), and Continuous (over 75%).
                  • Occasional nights and/or weekends required for events and/or donor meetings
                  • Frequent local travel required.
                  • Tolerance of prolonged and continuous stationary periods at a desk/computer
                  • Occasionally required to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
                  • Must be able to move about the facility or event/presentation venues
