Job Description:
POSITION: School Psychologist REPORTS TO: Student Services
Department OVERALL JOB DUTIES:The school psychologist serves
children, families, and schools through a variety of services in
thefollowing areas: Data-based decision making and accountability;
consultation and collaboration;interventions and instructional
support; mental-health services, school-wide practices to promote
learning;preventive and responsive services; family - school
collaboration services; diversity in development andlearning;
research and program evaluation; and legal, ethical, and
professional practice. The schoolpsychologist assumes other duties
as assigned. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Professional Educator License (PEL)
with School Psychologist EndorsementMaster s, Education Specialist,
or Doctoral Degree in School Psychology PROFESSIONAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:A. Practices that permeate all aspects of service
deliveryData-based decision making and accountabilityParticipation
in the development and assessment of interventionsConsultation and
collaborationB. Preventive and responsive servicesDesign,
implement, and garner support for comprehensive school mental
health programmingProvide counseling, instruction, and mentoring
for students struggling with social, emotional,and behavioral
problemsProvide crisis interventionC. Family/School/Community
collaborationEvaluate eligibility for special education services
(within a multidisciplinary team)Design and implement student
progress monitoring systemsMake referrals and help coordinate
community support servicesD. School-wide practices to promote
learningDesign and implement academic and behavioral
interventionsCollect and analyze data related to school
improvement, student outcomes, andaccountability
requirementsImplement school-wide prevention programs that help
maintain positive school climatesconducive to learningPlan for
and/or conduct necessary needs-assessments and staff trainingE.
Diversity in development and learningUnderstand, utilize and
communicate information on individual differences, abilities and
thepotential influence of biological, social, cultural,
experiential, socioeconomic, gender, andlinguistic factors on
