This position is located in Evanston, Illinois.The Domestic
Violence Outreach Counselor plays a key role in supporting the
expansion and delivery of counseling services to community members
who are survivors of domestic violence with a special emphasis on
serving immigrants. The Counselor collaboratively develops and
implements outreach strategies to increase the use of domestic
violence services by immigrant communities who face unique barriers
to accessing community-based services. This position provides
counseling and case management services to residential and
community-based clients of the Domestic Violence Program of YWCA
Evanston/North Shore with a deep commitment to creating a warm,
welcoming, and trauma-informed space for all.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
AND RESPONSIBILITIESCounseling and Case Management (65%)Provides
trauma-informed individual and group counseling, case management
services, and referrals to survivors in the residential and
community-based programs.Acts as a partner and advocate with client
in navigating systems.Establishes relationships with clients
drawing on motivational interviewing, and client-centered
approach.Provides conflict resolution when needed and parenting
feedback as required.Teaches clients about the impact of trauma and
demonstrates techniques that help clients learn strategies that
promote relaxation, calmness, and self-soothing.Plans, coordinates,
and facilitates support groups as needed.Administers an evaluation
process to clients.Works as integral and collaborative member of
the Domestic Violence Program team and contributes to the case
review process to ensure coordinated client support.Collaborates
with program director and other program staff to help build
organizational capacity to serve immigrant survivors in a
culturally relevant, equitable manner.Community Outreach &
Education (18%)Collaborates with program director, and other
program staff, to build program capacity to serve immigrant
survivors which includes but is not limited to developing and
implementing targeted outreach strategies, creating program
materials and training curricula, and generally increasing
immigrant communities' engagement in our services.Collaborates with
the domestic violence project team focused on expanding services to
the immigrant community on the North Shore to develop and implement
outreach plans, including trainings, tabling, and a community-based
peer education program cultivating key community partnerships
leading to increased usage of our community-based
services.Establishes and maintains working relationships with area
service providers and community leaders.Participates as a trainer
in delivering domestic violence training including but not limited
to the state required 40-hour domestic violence training program
and other community-based trainings on domestic violence.Record
Keeping and Documentation: (10%)Completes and submits in timely
fashion all necessary reporting documentation, including written
narratives on all interactions with clients.Oversees completion of
intake and ongoing paperwork for assigned clients.Submits monthly
activity reports in timely fashion.Reports on goals and objectives
identified in government grants and foundations as
appropriate.Crisis Line & Shelter Support (2%)As available,
intermittently provides emergency backup to ensure adequate
coverage of the 24-hour crisis line and residential shelter which
includes but is not limited to answering and responding to calls in
accordance with protocol; screening callers for shelter
eligibility, referring callers to community resources, conducting
safety planning and lethality assessment, providing emotional
support, initial intake, providing basic information about domestic
violence, legal rights and options; staffing shelter office on an
emergency basis in accordance with protocol to ensure a safe,
healthy, and trauma-informed environment.ADDITIONAL DUTIES
5%Provides and attends staff trainings and participates in agency
committees.Pursues professional developmentUnderstands and adheres
to all of YWCA Evanston/North Shore procedures and policies as well
as YWCA Employee Handbook.Performs other duties as assigned by

Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Master's Degree in counseling,
social work, or psychologyExperience and/or Training: Experience
working with domestic violence victims Counseling and case
management experience Experience working with marginalized
populations and immigrantsLicenses/Certificates: Successful
completion of Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training within 60
days of start Successful completion of ICDVP exam within 12 months
of start Valid driver's license, auto insurance First Aid/CPR
within 6 months of employment YWCA requires that all employees be
