Job Description: Blazerworks, in partnership with the local
school district in Evanston, IL, is seeking a dedicated and
experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for a part-time
position during the Extended School Year (ESY) program. This is an
exciting opportunity to provide specialized instruction and support
to students who are deaf or hard of hearing during the summer
months. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for
students who are deaf or hard of hearing in alignment with their
unique learning needs.
- Provide specialized instruction using various communication
modalities, such as sign language, auditory training, and assistive
technology.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that
promotes students' academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and
support staff to ensure a collaborative and cohesive approach to
students' educational experiences.
- Utilize appropriate instructional strategies and materials to
facilitate students' language development, literacy skills, and
academic progress.
- Assess and monitor students' progress, analyze data, and make
informed instructional decisions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, IEPs, and other
necessary documentation.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to
enhance teaching skills and stay updated with best practices in
teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related
field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Education.
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard
of hearing, preferably in an ESY program or summer school
setting.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity
with other communication modalities used by individuals who are
deaf or hard of hearing.
- Strong knowledge of deaf education principles, strategies, and
assistive technologies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational
skills.
- Passion for supporting the learning and development of students
who are deaf or hard of hearing. Benefits:
